A day in the life of Blush + Blow founder, Bridget O’Keeffe

Bridget O'KeeffeBlush + Blow was founded by Bridget O’Keeffe, makeup artist, beauty blogger and entrepreneur. She wanted to create a place with excellent customer service, that has great value for money with a fun, unique experience. As an SW6 London resident herself, she knew exactly what was missing and so the creation of Blush + Blow was masterminded.

Her mantra is ‘Blow-dries are a girl’s best friend’ and with a background in beauty she decided to fuse the two together and so Blush + Blow was born.

What is your morning routine?

I live between London and Ireland and my routines are so different in each place!

London:

Wake up around 7am, full beauty and skincare routine, outfit gets decided and hung up the night before and I’m off and out to work around 8:15. I don’t eat until midday but always stop on my 5 minute walk to work to get coffee from my new fav local, Arro along the new kings road.

Ireland:

Wake up around 6am and head off to the gym. I get back after having showered and done a more basic beauty routine (because I have to bring it all with me to gym) and usually slap on a hair mask and wear a cosy tracksuit. On the way home I pick up a coffee (that’s probably one of my only non-negotiables between London and Ireland).

Blush + Blow fulhamWhat is your typical working day?

London:

My days spent in the salon are taken up with both internal and external meetings. I spend about 3 or so hours at my desk and spend the rest of the time around staff and clients doing whatever needs doing from washing hair to taking rubbish out! I meet with a lot of my suppliers and spearhead the marketing so have a constant stream of coffees and lunches with influencers who are lovely enough to endorse my brand!

Ireland:

My desk is nestled right next to the fireplace which my boyfriend very kindly keeps glowing throughout the day. I rarely get up from my desk apart lunch or peppermint tea breaks! Before I know it, I have smashed 9 hours of work and its dark outside!

What tends to be the highlight of your day?

Ticking things off my to do list. I love a to do list so much that if I do something that isn’t on it, I write it down and then immediately tick it off to give myself that buzz of knowing that I am getting stuff done! haha

What do you have for lunch?

Mainly last night’s supper!

How do you spend your evenings?

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, my boyfriend also runs his own business, so we are always working. We have a no phone rule at the dinner table but winding down is just a change of pace rather than switching off from work. I love to cook in Ireland and hate it in London bizarrely. Deliveroo is our friend in London and slow cooked stews and roasts are a favourite in Ireland, especially when it’s rainy (which is 364 days a year in Galway!)

What is your nightly routine?

Before dinner I usually take my make up off and get ready for dinner. I find that if I don’t do it then, I find it very hard to do it properly. I’m a pj’s and spot cream kind of girl for dinner at home (lucky man)! I’m candle obsessed and burn them throughout the day but as soon as it gets dark, I like lamp and candle light, It’s my way of starting to mentally prepare to sleep. I love burning aromatherapy oils and listening Lo-Fi beats!

beauty productsWhat are your ‘can’t live without’ skincare products?

There are so many skincare products I love. Asking me to choose a favourite would be like asking me to choose my favourite child! Here is a short list of some of my faves:

  • The full Environ range for a really good quality retinol.
  • Cannabis Beauty’s mask. It is so detoxifying and depuffs like nothing else I have ever seen!
  • Beauty Pie’s lip balm is literally the worlds best product for chapped lips.
  • Malin + Goetz Salicylic Gel for spots. You can feel this product getting to work instantly!

What is your guilty pleasure?

White Chocolate every time!
