Q&A With Person Name
What has your experience taught you most about your approach to skincare?
Skincare is about a great routine, applying the products your skin needs to take care of its natural physiology – cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, nourishing and protecting – but it isn’t JUST something you just apply. To get fabulous, healthy, glowing skin its all about feeding, nourishing, stimulating and exercising your skin from outside and in – just as you would your body. I’m not meaning taking on a regime that takes hours per day but a skincare ‘lifestyle’. Eating nutritious foods, facial massage to stimulate muscles – the face is one of the few places where the muscle is attached to the skin so the more manipulation and exercise – using tools, movements and you own hands alongside the full application is going to replenish and restore the skin strength, elasticity and health for that permanent glow.
It takes moments to do pressure points, it takes seconds to Gua Sha lift an area and it takes less than 5 minutes for a full skincare routine. Splashing with cool water and draining with thumbs can all be done without thinking and without putting huge amounts of time aside and the difference is phenomenal!
Skincare is application, nutrition, muscle care, circulation, stimulation. But moments per day adds up to minutes per week and the glow is worth a lifetime.
What keeps you feeling inspired?
Ingredients and results in any order, finding an ingredient that has stunning skincare qualities and hearing about the results and fundamental changes to someone’s skin these ingredients and our formulas are bringing. There is literally no other reason to be in this business if you aren’t solving people’s skin ‘situations’ and bringing their individual glow.
Inspiration comes from the weirdest of places and the most unexpected – travelling to India to find an exotic ingredient and to return having discovered that its actually Rice – I KNOW! But the qualities of Rice in all its forms – fermented, the ferulic acid content, the way it makes almost all other ingredients in a formula absorb more efficiently and work phenomenally is eye opening and humbling.
Are you an advocate of facial massage?
Facial massage is one of the simplest, most cost-effective ways t keep skin looking fresh and toned. You can use product, but you can go without, you can simply hold firm pressure points by sinking pads of fingers into a muscle and you can work deeper to stimulate circulation and you can do it anywhere. It is so practical and it’s the best skincare multitasker, whilst you are reading, waiting for the kettle to boil or watching tv.
Anything that brings fresh, oxygenated blood to the surface in a gentle ‘pinking’ of skin means you are toning muscles and flushing through, the simplest way to tone and condition skin – working with a light application of facial oil or a hyaluronic serum also means deeper absorbency of product for enhanced results and the difference is visible immediately.
My go to is our Face Lift Blade or Gua Sha Blade, it’s a Chinese technique used to stimulate and lift the complexion whilst strengthening the muscles beneath the surface. Simply drop the stone to 45 degrees to the skin and gently lift your skin in an upward and outward motion – lifting, toning, stimulating, cleansing and product absorbing in one simple stroke.
Leaving your skin de puffed, smoother and lifted – try doing just one side and see the difference!
What's the ingredient/trend on your watch list?
I’m big into hard working serums right now. Our range has the fundamentals that you should apply every day, twice a day but once the essentials are applied then you have built the heathiest skin you have so serums, targeted for performance will now give the best results. Pre and pro biotics, Spirulinas, intense Vitamin contents and of course RICE!!!
I cannot say it enough, everything we know is good for body is the same for your skin – keep it cleansed, exfoliated and stimulated, keep it hydrated with water and nourished with skin food in the form of omegas (oils), natural vitamin sources – the A, B and C of skincare and keep the biomes alive by prepping the skins surface and then hosting the best bacteria.
If you had to give one piece of advice or recommend one product what would that thing be?
Get fundamental with your skincare. I see almost everyday a skincare routine that is literally starving the skin. Skin needs 5 steps, every day, twice a day. Its no different to life. Skin needs to be cleansed, exfoliated, hydrated, nourished and protected. Think about how you would get on with never washing properly, wearing the same underwear every day, never drinking any water, no food and going out without any clothes on? It wouldn’t look good and you wouldn’t survive for long BUT its what we often do to our skin, we miss out a crucial stage, no water/hydrator or we don’t feed it with an omega rich oil or we cleanse harshly and strip away the goodness our skin is desperately trying to maintain – so I can’t say one product but I can try to save the skin by campaigning on behalf of its fundamental skincare rights!!!!
