5 minutes with Claire Vero, Founder of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare

Claire Vero founded the award-winning British brand Aurelia Probiotic Skincare in 2013 following a successful nine year career at global pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, culminating in a Marketing Director’s role in the Global Dermatology Center for Excellence. In pursuit of a new challenge, she left the corporate world to follow her dream of creating a natural yet scientifically proven skincare range. Since launch, Claire and the range have won over 110 awards and counting, demonstrating the brand’s popularity and performance. Claire created Aurelia Probiotic Skincare featuring the brand’s signature probiotic ingredients – an industry breakthrough for preventing ageing and achieving radiant skin. Pushing the boundaries of natural skincare, Aurelia Probiotic Skincare effortlessly fuses BioOrganic botanicals and natural essential oils with scientifically-proven probiotic ingredients to protect, restore and balance the skin from within.

Tell us a bit about Aurelia – and how did you come up with the name?

Working as a Director within the Dermatology Centre for Excellence sparked an interest in the positive effects of balanced skin. I started researching probiotics and the role they could play in skincare. It was here that the idea for launching Aurelia Probiotic Skincare was born, and I set about creating a small range of products using unique probiotic ingredients, but that also ticked every box I had in mind. This included a sense of luxury, beautiful blends and textures, a very strict policy on ingredients, ethical sourcing and lastly a dash of Britishness.

I have always loved the name Aurelia, it was on my baby girl name list for years, and I then thought it would work beautifully for a skincare brand. The name comes from the Latin word aurus which means golden.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Career-wise: The harder you work the luckier you become. Hard work breeds success, and within that come the lucky opportunities that can be the defining moments in your career.

Beauty-wise: Cleanse your skin well at the end of every day to remove any makeup and daily impurities and keep your skin balanced.

What advice would you give for maintaining a healthy work life balance?

For me it is all about being able to switch off at the end of the work day, not constantly checking my emails or responding to work queries. There are of course times when you might need to stay late or take the work home with you, but those should be rare! I’m a firm believer in taking your allocated holiday time off, as it’s so important to take a break in order to come back feeling refreshed and ready for what work has to bring.

What’s your top tip for maintaining healthy skin? (not product related)

One of the best ways to care for skin, aside from using a complete skincare routine, is to adopt a facial massage routine. This can be morning or evening, and doing so can transform the tone and radiance of your skin. I always recommend to massage from the nose outwards towards the ears, to aid the lymphatic drainage system. Use pinching techniques along the jawline and firm pressure to make a real difference to your skin.

Have you heard much about Facial Yoga?

As a fan of therapeutic facial treatments I have heard of Facial Yoga and even tried out some of the techniques myself. I love the concept of a natural facelift.

What 3 X items would you pack to take to a desert island?

Sun protection

A good, long book

A set of products from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare of course!

What drives you?

I have always been quite a driven person, and having a goal to work towards is something I think about in work and home life. I’m a firm believer in getting on with things, and have never been one for procrastination!

Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you.

I trained in the discipline of modern pentathlon when I was younger.

What do you to do unwind outside of work?

I go for a relaxing massage or facial. Treatments are my biggest indulgence I just love them.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love sweets!
